What is Humanism?

Humanism isn’t really a ‘thing’, it’s more an outlook on life that centres around being a good human! Instead of looking towards religion or supernatural forces, Humanists look toward science and reason to explain life. They champion human rights and equality for all. Humanists place human welfare and happiness, and protecting our environment, at the centre of their ethical decision making.

Many people share this way of thinking, but they may not have heard the word ‘Humanism’ and therefore don’t realise that it describes what they believe! 

What is a humanist wedding?

A Humanist Wedding is a non-religious, inclusive ceremony that is completely personal to you as a couple. It is composed and conducted by a Humanist Celebrant, who will have taken time to get to know you as couple and the story of your relationship. 

As your Humanist Celebrant, I will create a ceremony that is totally unique to you and exactly how you want it - no ‘one size fits all’ around here! It will reflect the values you hold as a couple, with the love you feel for each other at the very centre of all its importance. 

The joy of a Humanist Wedding is being completely free to include whatever and whoever you want into your ceremony! You can choose to have meaningful readings, songs or a symbolic gesture such as hand-fasting or sand blending. You can also include friends or family members in the ceremony, which is beautiful way to show your loved ones how important they are to you both.

Your ceremony should be the most important part of your wedding day, with your love story at its heart. A Humanist Wedding ceremony will tell that love story in a way that no other kind of wedding ceremony can - your way!
